Athens ISD Superintendent Blake Stiles today accepted the resignation of the high school teacher who is under investigation for allegations of inappropriate texts with a student.
“We will continue to cooperate with the Athens Police Department as needed in their investigation into the matter,” said Athens ISD Communications Specialist Toni Garrard Clay.
Athens police officials said the investigation continues and includes AISD and the Sheriff’s Office.
The name of the teacher has not been released because of the ongoing investigation.
The story broke last Tuesday with statements issued by both AISD and APD.
The police statement read, in part: “The allegations center on text communications between the educator and student, some of which could be regraded as inappropriate. The investigation is in its early stages and is ongoing. At this time there is no evidence to establish that physical contact has occurred between the student and educator.”
