ACPA Hosts Swim, Dive Invitational

Athens Christian Preparatory Academy and The Cain Center of Athens hosted the final T-Cal Swim and Dive Invitational Meet on January 10.

The meet was attended by TAPPS perennial powerhouses Prestonwood Christian Academy and Colleyville Covenant Christian Academy from Dallas. Also attending were T.K. Gorman from Tyler, Poetry Christian Community School from Dallas, KOR Education School from Bryan, Kings Academy from Tyler, Athens Christian Preparatory Academy from Athens, Athens High School, Kerens High School and Cayuga High School.

In the women’s division, Colleyville Covenant bested the other teams with 132 points to finish first with ACPA coming in second with 96 points. Athens High School was 4th with 60 points.

Highlights of the meet included ACPA senior Katy Hardin with a 1st place finish in the 100 Butterfly and a 4th place finish in the 200 Freestyle. Jamie Boyd had a 2nd place finish in the 200 IM and a 4th place finish in the 100 Backstroke. Also scoring for ACPA was Caysee Clark with a 5th place finish in the 100 Freestyle and a 9th place finish in the 100 Breaststroke. Samantha Wogerer placed 4th in the 100 Freestyle. Mary Cheadle placed 4th in the 500 Freestyle. Also participating for ACPA were Gracie Millar and Kaitlin Millar.

In the men’s division were Gavin Hardin scoring for a 5th place in the 100 freestyle and 6th place in the 50 freestyle.

Avery Weinstein finished 2nd in diving.

In the middle school division, Prestonwood outscored the field with 162 points to finish first. Covenant was second with 100 points. ACPA was 3rd with 66 points.

Leading scorers for ACPA in the middle school division were Anna Parsons with a 1st place finish in the 50 butterfly, a 3rd place finish in the 100 freestyle; Chloe Wright with a 2nd place finish in the 50 freestyle and a 4th place finish in the 50 backstroke. In the boys division Gage Hardin led the scorers with 1st place finishes in the 100 freestyle and 50 butterfly. Also scoring for the boys were Jared Millar with a 7th place finish in the 50 backstroke and a 10th place finish in the 50 freestyle. Gabe Thomason placed 6th in the 50 freestyle. Caleb Bomer finished 7th in the 50 freestyle.

Scoring for Athens High School was Allison Hardin with a first place finish in the 500 freestyle and a 2nd place finish in the 100 freestyle. Lauren Takata  posted 2nd place finishes  in the 100 backstroke and 50 freestyle. Also participating for the girls were Esther Granillo and Ruth Granillo along with Lindsey Bailey. In the men’s division AHS was led by Jose Rodriquez with a first place finish in diving and a 3rd place finish in the 100 butterfly. Nathan Garner placed 1st in the 100 freestyle and 3rd in the 100 breaststroke. Also scoring for Athens was Josh Sims with a 3rd place finish in the 50 freestyle.
