The PGA Championship is under way at the Oak Hill country Club in Rochester, New York, and like usual with the majors, the golf course looks beautiful.
The golf course in Athens is looking pretty gorgeous as well, these days.
“For our course, it’s the best around as far as condition-wise. We’re very pleased with it,” said ACC Golf Pro Gaylord Walden.
Gaylord highlighted three reasons the course looks so good:
1. An irrigation system installed three years ago. … “It is kind of the heartbeat of your golf course,” Gaylord said.
2. Unusual rains in July.
3. A pre-emergent program that is keeping the course fairly clear of weeds.
“That combination of those things is unbelievable,” Gaylord said.
So the course is in great shape and also plays quick, for those concerned about the time. Reviews of it on https://www.hittingthegreen.com/ show all the details needed to get prepared for a great game of golf.
“We have a fast course here that plays in three or three-and-a-half hours, which compares to Dallas courses that play five-and-a-half or six,” Gaylord said.
He said you can walk nine holes at Athens in about an hour-and-a-half.
