Graveside Services for Foy Nell McElhaney, 81, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 at Palmer Cemetery in Palmer, Texas with Bro. Dan Logan officiating.
Ms. McElhaney passed away on Nov. 4, 2014 in Tyler, Texas.
Foy Nell Browning McElhaney was born Aug. 16, 1933 in Dallas, Texas the daughter of Foy Browning and Nellie Sue Littlejohn Browning. She was a member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church in Hillsboro, Texas and enjoyed cooking and reading. She was a Lifelong member of the Ferris Chapter # 508 of The Order of the Eastern Star. But her true enjoyment was her Texas Longhorns college football team, as her family says she was a true fan. Ms. Nell loved taking care of babies, working for many years in Day Care’s, being a mother or grandmother to all the children she cared for. “MiMi” was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and will be greatly missed by all she touched.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.D. McElhaney, her parents and her two brothers, Bob and Billy Browning.
She is survived by her loving daughter and granddaughter, Karen Rowell and husband Jesse and Lindsay and husband Brenton Burk all of Athens; two sisters, Beth Jahns and husband Lee of Seguin, Barbara Fox of Blanco and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will visit with friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
