Athens Economic Development Corporation President/CEO Brian Malone has tendered his resignation.
Malone announced the move during the AEDC board meeting Tuesday. His last day with the AEDC will be Nov. 6.
Malone said when he came here that he wanted Athens to be his last move, but that he and his wife are needed in the Houston area to help family.
“We just had to make a decision to change,” he said.
Malone will be taking over as vice president of the Pearland EDC.
“I feel very blessed that something like that would come up (where we could be closer to family),” he said. “The Lord works in mysterious ways sometimes.”
On Tuesday, the AEDC board voted to immediately begin the process to find Malone’s replacement.
