A Celebration of the life of Fanchone Myers, 71, of Athens is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Living for the Brand Cowboy Church in Athens, Texas.
Ms. Myers went to be with the Lord on October 3, 2014 in Tyler, Texas.
Edith Fanchone DeArmond Myers was born March 5, 1943 in Ponca City, Oklahoma the daughter of Jim J. DeArmond and Lucille Franklin DeArmond. She was a member of the Living for the Brand Cowboy Church in Athens and lived a vibrant life. Fanchone was a great cowgirl, spending her many years riding and training horses, putting on barrel racing schools and competing as a Finalist in the I.R.A. Barrel Racing Championships many times. She was proudly crowned Miss. Rodeo Kansas as a young lady. She was an amazing teacher, loved by her students, who spent over 30 years teaching in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. She loved animals her entire life, it was known that she had taken in every stray dog she came across. Mamo was a hard worker, whether it was on the job, at the ranch or being the biggest coach and running mate to all her grandbabies. She was a loving mother, grandmother and will be greatly missed by all the many people whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim J. and Lucille DeArmond.
She is survived by her loving children, Rope Myers and wife Candice of Van, Texas, Tygh Hiatt and husband Chad of Canyon, Texas, Cash Myers and wife Lacey of Athens, Texas; nine grandchildren, Layton Myers, Holden Myers, Tierney Myers, Storey Myers, Quade Hiatt, Kross Hiatt, Strait Myers, Westi Myers, Ketch Myers; numerous nieces nephews and cousins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Palmer, Jerry Beagley, Wade Wilson, Randy Kraft, Ronnie Walter, Doug Todd, Kenny Heman, Chet Hier, Butch Murray and Ty Murray.
