Funeral services for Lydia Sykes, 5, of Chandler are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday August 5, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Athens with Rev. Perry Smith officiating under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.
She was a charmer from the get go. Lydia Kathryn Sykes brought joy the day she arrived and spread sweetness every day of her five and a half years to all who knew her.
Lydia was born January 12, 2009 in Tyler to Guy Joel Sykes Jr. and Abby Lin Harville Gentry. She passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 in Tyler.
Lydia skipped and danced and twirled her way through life and into everyone’s heart. She loved her mom and dad to the moon and back. Lyds loved watching movies with Bubbie, playing T-ball, making people smile, flowers, singing, putting on makeup (the more, the better), swimming, drawing, sparkly things, and donut runs and snake hunting on the Mule. Her next project was going to be helping Uncle Gray work on trucks. Her favorite colors were pink, purple and red, usually in that order, but not always. She was beautiful inside and out and sometimes wise beyond her years.
She was simply the best kid ever and we were blessed to have had her. We will always love her to the moon and back.
She was preceded in death by great grandfather Guy Roy Sykes.
Survivors include mother, Abby Gentry and step-father Joseph, Dallas; father, Guy Sykes Jr., Tyler, step-brother, Jackson Gentry, Gresham, maternal grandparents, Lynn Harville and wife Megan, Murchison, Denise Morrow and husband Dillon, Chandler, paternal grandparents, Guy Joel Sykes Sr., Dallas, Lisa Wright, Houston, maternal great grandparents, Pete and Kathryn Harville, Athens, Raymond and Sue Farmer, Chandler, Bob and Robin Simonson, Arp, paternal great grandparents, Bob and Deana Wright, Tyler, Raymond and Janet Mamaclay, Ft.
