Man on Parole for Murder Caught on Violation

Henderson County Sheriff’s Department press release

On Friday, June 6, the Henderson County Parole Office had a parolee identified as Paul Colella come in to check in with his parole officer. Collela had been on parole since 2013 for a 1991 murder.

During his check in it was discovered that he had not been living where he was assigned to live and there was a warrant for a parole violation issued for him. When parole officers advised him of the warrant, he pushed past the officers and ran from the building and escaped.

On Monday, June 9, Investigator Billy Valentine and Investigator Charles Severn were tasked with locating Colella. Investigators gathered information about Colella’s possible location and began surveillance. At about 12:30 p.m., the investigators saw Colella walking from a local business in Athens and were able to arrest him.

Collela was taken to the Henderson County Jail and booked for a parole violation with other charges pending.
