Funeral services for Veda Anne Talbert 76, Athens have been scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday October 6, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Athens, Texas with Bishop Bill Bridger officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Shelby Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Talbert passed away October 1, 2018 after a long battle with cancer.
Veda Anne was born March 11, 1942 in Chester, Texas to the late McClellan and Sadie Lou Rhobert Johnson. Veda was a homemaker and artist and talented seamstress. She loved to write poetry and had put together several books of the family’s history. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. Veda loved spreading the Gospel by doing missionary work and helping in the family history library at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Gilbert Glenn Johnson, Robert Roscoe Johnson and James Elgin Johnson, sister; Nettie Maxine Johnson Hale, sons; Larry Gene Talbert, Henry Thomas Talbert and Danny Dean Talbert.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years J.B. Talbert, sons; J.B. Talbert Jr., and his wife Ann, Travis Lynn Talbert and his wife Jodye, daughter; Mary Ellen Talbert Kyle, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, brother; Boliver Bill Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Williams, Chase Talbert, Colt Talbert, Jamye Talbert, Mark Talbert and John Talbert. Honorary pallbearers are John S. Marcum Jr., and Jeffery B. Talbert.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
