Obituary: Patsy Ruth Thornsberry

Patsy Ruth Thornsberry of Athens was born on Dec. 18, 1939, in Chatfield, TX, to Jessie Chester Griffith and Ethel Aline Farmer. She passed away on Nov. 29, 2017. Patsy was an auxiliary” Pink Lady” for many years, where she was very dedicated. She obtained many honors and pins of recognition for the hours worked as a “Pink Lady.” She loved going to McDonald’s and Whataburger daily and made many friends there. Patsy was dedicated to her church, Wesley United Methodist Church of Athens and had a servant’s heart. Her hobby was baking and took treats to friends and family whenever she could.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Cloyd Thornsberry, as well as her siblings: Mary Griffith, Henry Griffith, and Jessie Griffith. She is survived by her daughter: Kim Vasbinder and husband Fred; sisters: Linda Mixon and Betty Rogers; grandchildren: Justin O’Neal and Jill, Ashley McDonald and husband Greg; great-grandchildren: Tristan O’Neal, Kylie O’Neal, Preston O’Neal, Elijah McDonald, Wyatt McDonald; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to welcome you to a visitation prior to the service at 2 pm on Sunday, December 3, 2017. Funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home, with Rev. David Ellis officiating. Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
