Obituary: Craig T. Rumar

Craig T. Rumar, 85, of Athens, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in Athens.

Craig Tennyson Rumar was born July 27, 1932 in San Francisco, California. He spent his career in the entertainment industry as a writer, producer, director and agent had a large career in the movie industry. He was a key player in the Rocky movie starring Sylvester Stallone, serving as his agent and bringing the writer/producers together to make the movie. Arnold Schwarzenegger, John Voight and Peter Fonda were just some of Craig’s most notable clients. Rumar was responsible for bringing numerous movies to the big screen; many of which were filmed in Spain or Europe, movies such as Instant Justice and Escape From El Diablo. He was responsible for selling the script to One Flew Over the Coo Coo’s Nest and as a screenwriter has written over 27 screenplays. He has traveled much of his life, living in exotic places such as Spain, Germany, Sweden, Holland and his favorite; the south of France. His busy schedule and career aside Craig was a great family man who dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Budsworth Rumar.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Nancy Rumar of Athens; two children, Christopher Rumar of Henderson, Nevada, Bentley Rumar and husband Andrew Rogers of Seattle, Washington; one sister Joanna Sulivan of Durango, Colorado and four grandchildren, Sophia Rumar, Vivian Rumar, Madison Alberts and Carter Alberts
