The No. 3-ranked Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals were in top form over the weekend in the annual Lewis Orr Classic at Navarro College.
First-year head coach Guy Furr’s squad rolled to a pair of lopsided wins in the two-day event, scoring a 124-74 win against IQ Hoops and a 124-84 decision against Pro Vision.
The two wins improved the Cardinals to 4-1 on the year heading into the TVCC Classic Friday and Saturday at Cardinal Gym.
The Cardinals are scheduled to play Texas Riders at 7 p.m. Friday and Southwestern Christian College at 4 p.m. Saturday. Navarro is also competing in the event and will play at 5 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.
Against IQ Hoops, Hyron Edwards led seven Cardinals in double-digits with 21 points. Brandon Holley had 16, Jaime Echenique 14, Yildon Mendoza and Josh Stamps 13 each and Julius Jackson and Jaquan Lightfoot 10 each.
The Cardinals led 63-28 at the half.
In the rout of Pro Vision, Brandon Holley pumped in 22 points to lead the way. He hit six three-pointers.
Also scoring in twin figures were Edwards with 21, Stamps 18, Andres Ibarguen and Echenique 14 each and Amaad Wainright 12.
The Cardinals had the game in hand at halftime, 61-39.
