Sheriff’s Department, Tool Police apprehend felon

Police BeatHenderson County press release

After a Cockrell Hills police officer was injured by an escaping felon, Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse and the Tool Police tracked him down Wednesday and put him behind bars.

Ramiro Silva Miranda, 30, was on the run after he assaulted a Cockrell Hills Police Officer.

Based on a description of the suspect and body camera pictures, Miranda was arrested Wednesday for a probation violation original charge being aggravated sexual assault of a child out of Dallas County.

“This is exactly the kind of agency-to-agency cooperation we like to see and be a part of in law enforcement,” Hillhouse said. “It makes clear to the criminals that they may be able to run, they may be able to hide, but we always get them, no matter where they go.”

The suspect, who has several alias names, was stopped in his vehicle in Cockrell Hills for another crime.

Hillhouse said while the suspect was being questioned, he accelerated his vehicle with the Officer hanging on and the Officer was injured.

Miranda faces an aggravated assault on a public servant charge, a first degree felony and the probation violation.

“Thankfully, he was only able to elude law enforcement for a few days, and we were pleased to be part of the team standing up for a fellow Officer and bringing in a dangerous criminal,” Hillhouse said.
