Marlena Taylor steps away from Family Peace Project; Mary Farmer takes over

Press release

Marlena Taylor has faithfully served as the Executive Director of the Family Peace Project for 15 years. Effective June 1, Marlena will be embarking upon a much deserved sabbatical from the Family Peace Project so she can travel, spend time with family and get some much deserved rest. In her absence, Mary Farmer will be stepping in to serve as interim director.

Mary comes to us from Kaufman County, where she forged the way for victim service with her grassroots organization, Healing Hearts Ministry which provided services to over 3,000 victims of family violence and sexual assault. She has served on the board of directors for the Texas Association against Sexual Assault and the Terrell Chamber of Commerce. She has served on numerous committees and volunteered in ministry work. She mentors non-profits and ministries, is a three-time Christian Recording artist and the author of the book “Hope Reigns,” which chronicles her own heroic escape from domestic violence.

Mary has been with the Family Peace Project for a year as a consultant and then as assistant director.

“My heart’s desire is to see victims overcome and thrive and to realize they can have an amazing life after abuse. We are striving, at the Peace Project, to build meaningful and lasting relationships in our community so that, together, we can bridge the gap for victims and show them the way to a healthy and safe future,” said Mary of her vision for the work ahead.

Family Peace Project provides shelter, 24 hour hotline, court advocacy, counseling services, information and referral services and much more for victims of Henderson and Kaufman counties.
