Man arrested for burglary of a building; another sought for crime

On Sunday, April 3, 2016, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Wayne Nutt and Deputy Gabriel Shue were dispatched to a burglary in progress at 8130 State Highway 31 West. It was determined the building had been broken into and items were taken from the building.

Deputies Nutt and Shue were able to recover the stolen property and identified Stephen Joel Smith, of Tool, and Stephen Lee Graves, of California, as the suspects. Graves was taken into custody for Burglary of a Building, while the incident was being investigated. Smith was not able to be located and an arrest warrant has been issued for him for Burglary of a Building.

Graves was arraigned by Henderson County Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Randy Daniel. Judge Daniel set Graves bail at $25,000. Graves remains in custody at the time of this release.

In the state of Texas, Burglary of a Building is a State Jail Felony, and carries a confinement in jail for a term not to exceed 2 years and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
