The Sarah Maples Chapter of DAR has chosen Michael Hannigan to receive its Excellence in Community Service Award for his work in the media.

According to his website, Michael saw first hand how the internet just about killed the newspapers. He learned how to build websites and blogs and in just 12 months he had built one of the most read news sites in this area. His “Henderson County Now” blog can be read all over the world.

Now his goal is to use what he has learned to honor God, serve his community and to write about his world.

One of his goals is to raise awareness of child abuse in this county.

This is why Michael is so special, he keeps the news out there for all of us to read what is going on in our communities.
