Athens reports Haloacetic Acid at safe levels

The City of Athens released the following statement Friday afternoon:

Recently, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) notified the City of Athens that our Haloacetic Acids (HAA) Levels exceed regulatory limits.  

The City immediately began working with an independent lab to conduct additional sampling in order to closely monitor the HAA levels. We received those results today, and are pleased to report confirmation that the HAA levels are currently within regulatory limits. Additional samples will continue to be taken in order to closely monitor the HAA levels.
