Man arrested for stealing Polaris Ranger

On Dec. 18 at approximately 9 a.m. Jim Warren with the Henderson County Regional Fairpark notified Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Botie Hillhouse the Fairpark had been burglarized and a Polaris Ranger and other items had been stolen. Athens Police Department was notified and responded to take a report. Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Investigators also responded to assist with the investigation.

Chief Deputy Hillhouse and Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Investigators Kay Langford and Kendall Wellman followed leads throughout the day which lead them to a residence on Henderson County Road 2919 in Eustace. The Polaris Ranger was located at the residence along with a stolen trailer that had been stolen a couple weeks earlier from the Star Harbor area of Henderson County.

Investigators located Jason Levassar at the residence with the key to the stolen Polaris Ranger in his pocket. Chief Hillhouse contacted Athens Police Department Sgt. Don Yarbrough notifying him the Ranger had been located.

Sgt. Yarbrough sent Athens Police Department Detective Marshall Passons to County Road 2919. Detective Passons arrived and placed Levassar under arrest for Burglary of a Building. Levassar was transported to the Henderson County Jail.

On Dec. 19 Levassar was arraigned by Henderson County Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Randy Daniel. Judge Daniel set bail on Levassar at $35,000. Levassar is still in custody at the time of this press release.
