Private graveside services for Albert Thomas Stovall Jr., of Athens are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens, Texas with Bro. Darren Miller officiating and will be under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
Mr. Stovall passed away on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015 in Athens, Texas.
Albert Thomas Stovall Jr. was born May 3, 1935 in Lake County, Florida to the late Albert Thomas Stovall Sr. and Ollie Mae Snowden. He graduated from high school in Mount Dora, Florida in 1953. In 1954 he enlisted in the United States Army and following boot camp in Fort Gordon, Georgia he was ordered to Germany where he was stationed with the 1st Infantry Division (Big Red ONE) in the 63rd Tank Battalion. He was honorably discharged at fort Riley, Kansas on July 19, 1957.Following his military service he returned to Central Florida where he worked for the next 20 years for various major Beer Distributors in the Ocala, Florida area as the manager of their distribution warehouses. He moved to Athens, Texas in 1977 and began selling Asphalt paving machines for LEE-BOY Equipment Company until eventually retiring with Gillert Gas Company. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and uncle who will be greatly missed by all he knew and loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Dunn R. Stovall and a grandson Jonathan Stovall.
He is survived by four sons Donald Wayne Stovall of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Stephen Stovall and wife Sheree of Athens, Michael Stovall and wife Angie of Ocala, Florida, Justin Stovall of Ocala, Florida; one daughter Rebecca Bemis of Ocala, Florida; sister Eloise Deem of Athens, sister and brother in law May and Dave Farnham of Athens, sister and brother in law Patricia and Enloe Carter of Sorrento, Florida; six grandchildren and one great grandchild; along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the following who treated Mr. Stovall during his recent illness, Dr. Douglas Curran, Dr. Danny Pugh, Oakwood Assisted Living and Staff, ETMC hospital and staff, and Hospice PLUS.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday Dec. 19, 2015 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
