Obituary: Larry McDaniel

mcdaniel, larry PhotoGraveside services and interment for Larry McDaniel, 73, of Athens are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015 at Macedonia Cemetery in Angelina County with Stewart Lowe officiating. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church.

Mr. McDaniel passed away Oct. 18, 2015 in Tyler.

He was born Jan. 21, 1942 in San Augustine to Lawrence Daniel and Margaret Dorothy Smith McDaniel. Larry had been a resident of Athens for the past 35 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He had been an automobile salesman for several local dealerships for 15 years. He then became a local contractor 15 years. His ministry was the driving force in his life. He loved reading and studying history. He loved and cherished time with his family.

Larry is preceded in death by his mother and four brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years Louise McDaniel of Athens; son Mark McDaniel and wife Kim of Hico; daughters Sandy Fulton and husband Brad of Athens, Karen Parker and husband Brad of Brownsboro; grandchildren Wayne McDaniel, Morgan Johnson, Emily Fulton, Natalie Fulton, Spencer Parker, Brennan Parker, Lauren Parker; great grandchild Adaleigh Johnson; step grandchildren Matti, Duane, Blake and Luc Hyles; father L. D. McDaniel of Saint Augustine; brother Robert McDaniel of San Augustine; sister Mary Broomfield and husband Cecil of Center.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
