Leadership Cedar Creek Lake is about to enter its ninth year.
The “Leadership Cedar Creek Lake Class of 2015-16” is forming now, so if you or someone in your organization is interested in being a part of this great program, please let the Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of Commerce know so they can hold a spot for you.
The purpose of the program is to develop new community leaders and enhance the skills and community awareness of existing leaders, plus teach techniques to become better team players and to form bonds in business, civic and personal dealings. Participants in these classes graduate better prepared to take on the role as members of boards of directors and in elected positions such as city council and school boards.
Cost for the program is $350.
The program is planned to keep the time away from work to around three hours, one day a month and experience has shown that this works nicely for the class size. Through the year, it may be necessary to adjust some class times, but it will remain primarily a half day program, with as few adjustments as necessary.
The Texas Legislature will not be in session in 2016, but this year’s class will have the option of travelling by bus with chamber members and citizens for a one-day visit to our state capitol in February 2017 for the traditional Cedar Creek Lake Day. The fee for the legislative trip is included in this year’s Leadership class fee. Historically, we’ve either had a “pass” in February when we don’t go to Austin, or we invite elected officials to come speak to us in a local venue. Those details will be announced at a later date.
An application will need to be completed, but you can reserve spots in the class by contacting Jo Ann Hanstrom at [email protected] or call 903-887-3152. Class size is limited to 12 participants, deadline for returning the application is Sept. 17 and orientation is on September 22.
Please see a tentative schedule for the 2015-16 class attached.
