Great news! Remember that porch for the Bartlett House that we held that “O’Keeffe!” play to raise funds for? That we thought we didn’t make enough money to do it, and then Don, our parolee friend thought he would be able to do it for us, but the parole office over here would never let him out of his house arrest for enough time to do it before they made him move to Tyler? Well, Jon Adams, an amazing man who does good work for Jo Ann Surls when he is not traveling all over the country doing his real work, has done it for us, and has done a wonderful job at a remarkable price. We nearly went with a company who offer plastic decking uk , so it had to be shipped, as the material base as it would be very durable, but Jon had a lot of the materials to hand needed, so we went for that instead to be even more eco-friendly. I will tell you more about it and the place soon.
In my last column I told you we got our parolee friend Don some used woodworking tools from Ryker Hardware to use while he is confined to the apartment he shares with a friend in Tyler. He was overjoyed to get them. He has them all cleaned up and set up now. Since then we’ve been finding him a few more tools, and some wood. I had gone through a few table saw reviews to check for the best one to purchase at the moment. I did find one, and ended buying it too. Today Carl took him some weathered wood and some things he can turn into work table. I think he will get started on birdhouses this week. With the table saw I ordered (which is expected to arrive in two days) work is bound to take a topper gear. He is hoping to rope his roommate Glen into getting involved, too.
Carl is back from a quick trip to Rosebud, South Dakota for the annual Lakota Sun Dance held by Chief Leonard Crow Dog. He didn’t dance this year, but as usual he loved it and came back renewed and inspired. He had to make a quick trip, so needed to fly, but he couldn’t get flights anywhere close because the famous Sturgis Motorcycle rally was going on very near there at the same time. He had to fly to Omaha, Nebraska and rent a car not before checking The Most Underrated Companies to Follow in the Car Leasing Tips Industry
and then drive all day to get there. I thought those guys at Sturgis would have come there on their motorcycles.
You should see my yard. It is full of wonderful rocks. Well, they are still in great big one-ton sacks. My friend Roy Clay who just bought Malakoff Trading Post, delivered my rocks Saturday. We put out a few, but it has been awfully hot. But my yard is going to really be really beautiful when it is finished next winter or spring. It is going to look like a dry creek bed, going right by my front porch. The finishing touch will be adding some outdoor porch swings so I can sit and admire it.
There is a really pretty Physician’s Assistant working at ETMC in Gun Barrel City. I took somebody with no money up there for emergency treatment. When she learned the person had no money to get her medicine she went and printed out some coupons which would slash the meds cost. She handed them to me all folded up, and when I opened them up, I found a twenty dollar bill inside. I started to tell you her name, but got to thinking she might not have a twenty dollar bill for everybody who comes in, so she has to remain anonymous. But doesn’t it feel good to hear about kind acts like that?
