Boil Water Notice in Athens Lifted

wpid-wpid-city-of-athens-4-color-logo.jpg-150x139.jpegAt about 9:20 a.m., the City of Athens released the following statement:

On May 11, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required our public water system the City of Athens to issue a Boil Water Notice (BWN) to inform our customers that due to reduced pressure and/or an interruption of service from our system, water must be boiled prior to consumption.

Our system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore adequate pressure and has provided TCEQ with testing results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling as of May 13.

We apologize for any inconvenience and would like to thank you for your patience as we worked to ensure the safety of our drinking water.
