Obituary: Clyde Rayburn

Graveside services for Clyde Rayburn, 95, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, March, 10, 2015 at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens, Texas with Rev. Kevin Covington and Dr. Jeff Covington.

Clyde Rayburn passed into the sweet arms of Jesus on Sunday, March 8, 2015 in Athens, Texas.

Clyde Rayburn was born on October 28, 1919 in Oklahoma the son of Jess L. Rayburn and Lenora Duncan Rayburn. He moved to Texas in 1951 and his residence in Texas included Hereford, Paris and Athens. During his working years he was engaged in many different endeavors. They included farming and farm implement business, organic fertilizer, propane and janitorial business. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Athens and enjoyed reading his Bible and great westerns. Clyde was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and garden. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all he knew and loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.

Mr. Rayburn is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Hazel Klepper Rayburn of Athens; one son Ronald Rayburn of Athens; one daughter Jeanette Covington and husband Carl of Conroe; four grandchildren, Russell Rayburn, Robin Cotton, Kevin Covington, Jeff Covington and thirteen great grandchildren.
