Press release
Several local physicians will be performing during the run of “9 to 5: The Musical.” The show, which opens Thursday, Oct. 1, has a small role for a doctor. Rather than cast one of the actors, HCPAC is filling the role with cameo appearances.
During the course of the play, Hart, the “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical, bigot” of a boss, is accidentally poisoned by one of the secretaries. The scene changes to a hospital, complete with doctor. Local physicians who will be playing this part are Jim Ogburn, Paul Morelli, Ken Lemmon, Tina Elkins, Marc Abadie and Doug Curran.
“We thought it would be fun to put local personalities in a small part,” says Director of the show Marcia Colbert. “Community theatres are all about showing off local talent. Small roles like this give folks an opportunity to be on stage without a big time commitment,” she went on. “And it’s just fun for everyone involved.”
Show dates are Oct. 1,2,3,8,9,10 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. Reservations are available at 903-675-3908 and online at www.hcpac.org. Reservations are strongly recommended as space is limited.
HCPAC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located at 400 Gibson Rd., Athens, TX
