The schedule of events for the 24th Annual Kidfish and Playday at Purtis Creek State Park has been released. The scheduled for the April 23 event includes:
8 a.m. — Event and Registration Begins @ Picnic Area Immediately Behind Day Use Restroom
9 a.m. — Kid Fishing Tournament Begins. Sound off by Fire Department
10 a.m. — Door Prizes are Awarded & Lunch Begins to be served.
12 p.m. — Tournament Ends Sound off by Fire Department
12 p.m. — Introduction of Dignitaries
12:20 p.m. — Award Trophies For Tournament
1:20 p.m. — Event Ends

The Friends of Purtis Creek and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department would like for you to come out and experience a morning of outdoor activities that include bug picking, paddle boards and kayak demonstrations, wildlife identification and numerous fishing educational stations.
Besides the over 20 activity stations, many local vendors such as Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center and Trinity Valley Electric will also be on hand to provide instruction and knowledge on the products they have to offer the local community. The first 1,000 kids age 3-16 will have the opportunity to become Basic Angler Certified and receive a free rod/reel, bait and tackle as well as the opportunity to compete in the kids-only fishing tournament.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 11 a.m. Booths will remain open until noon when the fishing tournament ends.
The event is sponsored by Friends of Purtis Creek, Inc. in cooperation with
Brookshire’s Grocery Stores, Dr. Pepper Bottling Company, and the Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. Free hot dog meal and drink are being provided by Brookshire’s, Dr. Pepper and Nestle Waters Company (Ozarka).
