Tammy Whitehurst
Tammy Whitehurst

The ladies of Cross Roads Baptist Church are hosting their 13th Annual Women’s Conference on April 5. The theme this year is “Celebrating Joy,” and is centered around 1 Thessalonians 2:20: “For ye are our glory and joy.”

The conference has become a traditional day of celebration among Christian women of all denominations. Tammy Whitehurst will be the keynote speaker for both morning and afternoon sessions. She is the founder of “Joy for the Journey” and shares the gift of laughter and encouragement. In addition to the speaker and testimonials, there will be wonderful music provided by “The Pearl Girls” and “Heaven Bound,” both local groups and various in-house talent.

The famous “Cross Roads Cooks,” headed by Bro. Frank Upchurch, will be brewing up recipes for the continental breakfast and hot-off-the-cooker lunch. The youth of the church will have a hand in helping serve both meals.

Christian vendors will set up for shopping before and after the conference and during breaks. Most of the goods for sale are handcrafted and some have been donated for door prizes. Many door prizes will be given throughout the day with three grand door prizes being given at the end of the conference.

Registration and breakfast will be from 7:15-8:15 a.m. The cost is $12 (less than it was last year). The conference will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. The afternoon session will begin around 1 p.m. and close around 3:30 p.m.

First Baptist Church of Cross Roads is located at 14232 FM 59, approximately 11 miles south of Athens. For more information, please call June Farmer at 903-489-1633, Anita Sifford at 903-677-1819 or Margaret Pryor at 903-681-1755.
