Now you can take a ride in the most famous warbird fighter in history, the P-51 Mustang! Known as the aircraft that won the war, The P-51 was the fastest single engine fighter of WWII with speeds over 400 mph.

The Cavanaugh Flight Museum P-51 Mustang, The Brat III, is even more special as it is an actual combat veteran! That’s right, the airplane you are sitting in for the ride actually saw combat over 70 years ago.

P-51 rides will be available at Tyler Pounds Airport this Friday July 5 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday July 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. before the airshow.

A celebration of life for Brody Hopson, 28, Athens is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday in Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel.

Brody died Saturday, June 29, 2013.

He was born Feb. 2, 1985 in Athens to Steven Trent and Alicia Kaye Gordon Hopson. Brody attended high school in Garland at Naaman Forest High School. He was a member of the Cossack M.C. and was employed with Jake’s Fireworks the past eight years. Brody called Athens his home the past several years.

He was preceded in death by his brother Taylor Gage Hopson, USMC; grandmother Helen Grider Gage; great-grandparents G. C. and Mary Ted Pool; mother-in-law Iris Faye Lane; cousins Benjamin and Joseph Bacon.
