The Cross Roads Bobcat Band traveled to Mesquite Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 22, to compete in the Texas University Interscholastic League Music Region 3 Marching Contest.

The Bobcat Band scored a “third division” rating from the UIL judges at the contest. Although the band did not receive the coveted “first division” rating, the band is proud of their performance and results. Those students marching in the band consisted of 30 students ranging from the 8th grade to 11th grade. However, 63 percent of the students are only in the 8th or 9th grade.

“We have a young marching band,” Bobcat Band Director Alissa Brown said. “Everyone from this band will return next year. The amount of hard work that all members of the band have put in this year is outstanding! I am excited about what the future holds for these students.”

Leading the Cross Roads Marching Band onto the field this year were junior drum majors Katie Harris and Logan Gentry. Marching in the contest included juniors Bailey Bell, Heavenleigh Ysasaga, Titus McCloud, Jordan Bradley, Lantz Dunacusky, Olivia Komandosky and Jordan Cain. Sophomores marching included Bayleigh White and Shelby Paramore. Freshmen marchers included Cameron Malcom, Chelsea Baker, Taylor Long, Luke Villagran, Ethan Adams, Casey Rackley, Hunter Lawrence, Justin Yachinich, Kiley Tatom, Phoenix Slayter, Julia Harris and Anna Sifers. Eighth grade students marching with the band included Zowie Hall, Michael Smith, Allan Tatom, Johnathon Perkins, Aaron Davidson, Kyleigh White and Paige Kutscherousky.
