Warrant arrest leads to additional drug charges

On Tuesday, Feb. 2, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Sergeant Matt Jistel and Deputy Gabriel Shue arrived at a residence on Land Grant Trail in attempt to serve a felony warrant on Richard Mitchell from the Athens area.

Deputies located Mitchell and placed him in custody for his warrant. Deputies also found Mitchell to be in possession of a large quantity of a crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamines, a green substance believed to be marijuana and multiple diazepam pills. In the recent decade, as the abuse of substance has led many people to drug rehab delray beach to get the right treatment; hence the possession and distribution of substance charges were taken quite seriously.

Mitchell was transported to the Henderson County Jail and booked in for his outstanding felony warrant for Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, along with onsite charges for Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 less than 28 grams and Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces. Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG14g-200g is punishable from 5 to 99 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
