Two arrested on drug charges in Payne Springs

Press release

Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse led a team of his deputies on a drug raid Monday, arresting two suspects and confiscating suspected methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia.

“The raids will continue,” Hillhouse said. “Last week, my office began what will be a systematic effort to make this an unfriendly county in Texas for illegal drugs and that campaign continues today.”

Rachel Hutt and Melody Russom were arrested in a residence in the Indian Harbor Subdivision of Payne Springs. Hutt was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and Russom was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Hillhouse took his team of Narcotic Investigators Kay Langford and Brad Beddingfield, Investigators Brad Gray, Josh Rickman, Jeromy Rose, Cayce Hampton and Wick Gabbard to execute the arrest warrant.

“This group of fine Investigators is cracking-down on illicit drugs in this county,” Hillhouse said. “Dealers and users alike will learn the hard way that illegal drugs in any amount, no matter how great or small will not be tolerated under my watch.”

Henderson County Court at Law 1 Judge Scott Williams issued the search warrant for the residence which was executed by the Sheriff’s Office.

Hutt and Russom both were arraigned by Henderson County Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Randy Daniel. Judge Daniel set bail on both Butt and Russom at $10,000.

Hutt and Russom both remain in custody at the Henderson County Jail at the time of this release.
