Two arrested on drug charges in hotel raid

Police BeatHCSO press release

Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse led his team of narcotic investigators on a raid of the Lake Palestine Motor Inn in Coffee City this week, arresting two drug dealers with a number of methamphetamines and pills. In this case, the County Sheriff was right to carry out the raid on the two men. However, if this happens to you in Henderson or another state and you’re wrongly convicted, you may want to try this criminal law attorney for legal advice and assistance.

“These out-of-towners were in our backyard to sell their poison and they are now sitting in our jail,” Hillhouse said.

Alvertice Bowdre, 36, of Tyler and Horace Dean, 37 of Dallas were arrested Tuesday after Investigators Kay Langford and Josh Rickman received information and presented Justice of the Peace Tony Duncan with enough probable cause to obtain a search warrant.

Hillhouse, Chief Kevin Halbert, and a team of Langford, Rickman, Investigators Brad Gray, Cayce Hampton, Wick Gabbard, Jeremy Rose, and Robert Powers hit the hotel in Coffee City and found the suspects and the illegal drugs.

Both face first degree felony charges, which could bring life in the Texas Department of Corrections, or a term of not more than 99 years or less than five years. Each also faces a $10,000 fine.

This action marks a continuing concentration of the Sheriff’s Office attention to illegal drug activity, where citizen tips and concerns about illegal drugs have increased since Hillhouse began his aggressive County-wide crackdown.

“We know local drug dealers and users are hearing that we are simply not going to tolerate this kind of activity,” the Sheriff said.

“These two arrests will help send a signal to these folks who don’t live here that they can’t bring it here, and traffic these substances he said.

Dozens of drug dealers and users have been arrested since Hillhouse took office in June, and the Office is getting attention across the state for its anti-drug campaign.

“To the dealers, I can’t be clearer – stay out of Henderson County,” Hillhouse said.
