TVCC press release

The Trinity Valley Community College Department of Theatre presents “The Odyssey, A Play for Young Audiences” by Tom Smith through Friday, September 30, in the auditorium adjacent to the Orval Pirtle Administration building on the Athens campus.

This fast-paced and funny adaptation brings Homer’s original story to life for young audiences. Odysseus and his crewman Pete must overcome many perils on their long voyage home from Troy, including an awkward teenage Cyclops named Polly, some Sirens crooning elevator music, and various other gods and monsters. Along the way, they both learn some hard lessons in trust, humility, and the power of brains over brawn.

Performances will be September 27 – 29 at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. and Friday September 30 at 7 p.m. Seating is limited during the 9:30 performances. Tickets are $2 for children, $5 for adults, free for TVCC students, staff and faculty. The show is rated G and intended for children and families.
