Trinity Valley Community College’s Continuing and Workforce Education Department and the Texas Workforce Commission offer an exceptional opportunity to small businesses in its service area through the Skills for Small Business program. Companies with fewer than 100 employees can apply for paid training for new and incumbent employees to help them learn new or hone existing skills in software, electrical, medical office, computer aided drafting, welding, auto mechanics, engineering and many other areas.

With the wide variety of courses offered at TVCC’s four campuses, practically any small business can find or design a training program to help them become more efficient and competitive. Special grant dollars made available by the governor’s office allow most businesses to acquire the training for new and recently hired employees at no cost.

“These trainings need not fall within college semesters; they can happen anytime,” said Gayla Roberts, TVCC’s Dean of Community Services. “They can take place on campus or on the job site if the space and resources are there.”

TVCC and TWC staffs are available to help businesses apply for funds. More information is available at www.tvcc.edu/communityservices, on the TWC website at www.twc.state.tx.us or businesses can contact the TVCC Continuing and Workforce Education Department at 903-675-6212.
