Suspects Run, But Get Caught in GBC

Police BeatPress release

On February 18, at approximately 3:10 p.m., Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Captain Bryan Tower and Deputy Brad Beddingfield were traveling on SH 334 near Bonita Point east of Gun Barrel City. They observed a white four door car traveling extremely slowly with its hazard lights on and jerking back and forth on the roadway. The vehicle pulled into the driveway of a private residence and a male subject got out of the vehicle flailing his arms as if he were angry. It appeared the vehicle had been occupied by four people. Captain Tower pulled over to offer assistance and observed the female front passenger to be visibly upset and crying. As officers approached the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle sped out of the driveway at a high rate of speed westbound onto SH 334.

A short pursuit was initiated and ended when the vehicle drove through the yard of a private residence north of SH 334. At that time, the male driver and right rear male passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot towards the north with the female passenger still yelling and crying. Deputy Beddingfield caught the rear passenger, identified as Matthew Nichkolas McNair in some woods north of the location. Captain Tower chased the driver, identified as Willie Dolan Brown, through a building and into a pasture north of the location. McNair was found to be in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine.

A check showed that both male subjects held outstanding warrants. The female passenger was interviewed and was released with no charges pending.

McNair was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance < 1 g and transported to HCSO where he was also booked for the following outstanding warrants: Motion to Adjudicate Guilt (PCS); Bail Jumping / FTA (PCS); PCSPG < 1 gram (KCSO) and traffic related warrants out of Seven Points.

Brown was arrested and charged with traffic warrants issued out of Gun Barrel City.
