Sheriff releases sketch of suspect in deputy assault

Press release

Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse today released an artist’s sketch of a suspect wanted in the assault of one of his Deputies last week.

“If you see this man, call us,” Hillhouse said. “He is dangerous. Assume he is armed with the handgun he had when he assaulted the Deputy. Do not approach him. Call us.”

A Crime Stoppers reward of $5,000 has also been offered to anyone assisting in the identification and arrest of the suspect.

Thursday night last week, a Deputy approached the man, who was acting suspiciously, as he walked along a road south of Leagueville.

During questioning, the white male brandished a pistol, struck the Deputy in the face and fled the scene.

The Deputy was treated at the East Texas Medical Center in Athens and released.

The wanted man is of average height, weighing between 140 and 160 pounds, and has a tattoo on his upper right arm, above the elbow.

“We will find him and bring him to justice,” the Sheriff said. “So far, people have been very helpful, providing us with scores of tips and leads. I am hopeful this sketch will help us finally identify this wanted man.”
