‘Oliver’ actress to visit HCPAC during ‘A Christmas Carol’

Press release

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 1968 hit musical “Oliver,” Shani Wallis — the actress who played Nancy— is touring Europe and the United States. She’s making an appearance at 6:30 p.m. Friday, November 30 at the Henderson County Performing Arts Center (HCPAC) in Athens.

Fans of the movie remember Nancy best for her renditions of “Oom-pah Pah,” and what is considered her signature song, “As Long as He Needs Me.” She went on to star as Nancy on the theatre stage as well. Over the years she performed in a number of musicals including 42nd Street and Follies, and toured with Liberace for five years during the 1980s. In the last decade or so she was a regular on the daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless and made other TV appearances. Two upcoming projects in which she is acting are Greenbriar and In Search of Steven Spielberg.

Wallis’ visit in Athens takes place during a reception just prior to HCPAC’s presentation of “A Christmas Carol.” The public is invited to come to the show and meet Wallis beforehand for an autographed photo. HCPAC is presenting Oliver as part of their 2019 season.
