Sherrie Lynn Whisenhunt passed away at her home on November 24, 2018 in Gun Barrel City, Texas. She was born on April 21, 1954 in Dallas, Texas to Noel Thurston and Billie Lorene Thurston.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Tyler Nix; granddaughter, Taylor Nix; Nephews, Lenny Thorn, Danny Thorn, and Brandon Thurston.
Sherrie worked at several convenience stores in the area and was a seamstress for a cap company for several years. She adored her children and grandchildren. Sherrie was a casual kind of gal. She lived life to the fullest and was a fighter during her sickness. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her and loved her.
Survivors include her son, Tracy Nix and wife Nicole of Murchison, Texas; her daughter, Kristy Nix of Gun Barrel City, Texas; her brothers, Glenn Thurston and wife Linda of Pottsboro, Texas, Allen Thurston and wife Delores of Tyler, Texas; her sisters, Billie Jean Mason of Colorado, Barbara Dawson of Ohio, and Betty Thorn of Canton, Texas; grandchildren, Tiffany Nix and husband Marco of Murchison, Texas, Madalyn Ward and Tiernan Ward of Gun Barrel City, Texas; two great-grandchildren Bentley Smith and Braylon Conche of Murchison, Texas.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Tarver Cemetery near Canton, Texas with the Rev. Daniel Stone officiating. Arrangements by Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
