Mary Fern Glover Price, 74, of Athens, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 21, 2018. She was born on August 11, 1943 to Bennie Ross and Willie Fern Glover, in Athens.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary attended Henderson County Junior College and was elected cheerleader, a member of Kappa Alpha Pi Sorority. She was chosen as “Cutest Freshman Girl” and was a member of the choral club. After junior college, Mary went on to East Texas University and earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physical Education and English. She accepted her first teaching job at Pittsburg High School where she taught Senior Health class. She was the volleyball coach for the A and B Volleyball teams and was the sponsor of the 100-member drill team. After 2 years at Pittsburgh High School she accepted a job at Murchison Junior High School where she taught grammar and coached basketball, those students became very special to her and were later in hers and Vernon’s wedding. From there she went to Athens Junior High School and taught Special Education. After teaching in Athens, she accepted a job teaching 6th grade Health and Science at Malakoff Junior High School.

Mary was very active in her church. She loved the Lord and made Him priority in her life. Through her life she served at several churches in the area. For the first 23 years of her life she was a member of Murchison Methodist Church, where she accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 5 and was baptized. She also married her sweetheart in that same church home. After marriage, she attended Central Baptist Church, First Baptist Church where she was a member of the property committee. Her and her husband Vernon helped establish Dogwood Church where she was very active. In her later years she attended Wesley Methodist Church for many years. Whatever church Mary was a part of, she gave her heart and soul to it, serving the Lord. She enjoyed Beth Moore Bible studies and had completed 3 of those.

She enjoyed doing a lot of fun things as well. At the age of 37 she learned to snow ski, and for the rest of her life she enjoyed opportunities to go snow skiing in Colorado and Lake Tahoe.

Mary accomplished a great deal in her life, but her greatest joy was her family. Her husband was her light and love for 52 years. Her two children and her grandchildren were the ones who made her world! The photos that you may see today and in the future of Mary and her family, that is what describes Mary Price the best. Love for family and for her Lord is what this precious lady was about. The scripture that comes to mind when you think of Mary Price is “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”. 2 Timothy 4:7
