A memorial gathering for Mary B. Creasy, 94, of Athens is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Pastor Mike Baldwin officiating.

Mrs. Creacy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 in Athens.

Mary Elizabeth Creasy was born May 11, 1919 in Greenville, Texas the daughter of Henry Gordon Busby and Frances Matilda Newby Busby. Before her retirement, she was a counselor and educational diagnostician in the schools of Naples, Mt. Pleasant and the Athens school districts. She was also an active member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Athens where she was a Sunday School Teacher of adult classes. She was a member of the Naples, Texas Order of the Eastern Star #907. She also was an active member of the National Association of Antique Watch and Clock Collectors. She was former long-time member of the Pea Pickers Square and Round Dance Club and of the Camping Squares. In 1943 she married Robert Denton Bearden of Lone Oak, Texas who died in 1964. In 1971 she married Stiles Taylor Creacy who passed in 1991.

She is survived by her two sons, John D. Bearden of Athens, Robert and wife Phyllis Bearden of Montgomery, Texas; one sister, Janie McWatters of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Candice and husband Clay Nugent, Lanna, Katie, Cody Bearden; and three great-grandchildren, Rylee, Jaxx and Landree Nugent.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to: Greater Athens Lions Club, 1116 Oval Drive, Athens, Texas 75751.
