Obituary: Margaret Giles

Funeral services for Margaret Giles 77, Athens have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church, Athens with Pastor Seth Davidson officiating.

Burial will follow at Carroll-Springs Cemetery under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

Margaret was born December 30, 1940 in Hamilton, Texas to the late Bruno G. and Alwine Nauret Goerdel. Margaret was a resident of Athens for most all her life and a Charter Member of St. John Lutheran Church. Her church was very important to her and she sang in the choir, was a member of the Ladies Group and taught Sunday School. She was an independent spirit who loved to travel and the destination did not matter. Her love was her family and she was a dedicated caregiver for her daughter and her parents.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sue Ann Giles.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years Lowell Giles, son; Lloyd Giles and wife Jan, granddaughters; Aimme Burks (Joshua), Elizabeth McCullough, Lee Ann Giles (Josh), grandson; Jesse Giles (Sarah), six great-grandchildren, sister; Nelda Krueger and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Giles, Joshua Burks, Josh Disotell, Craig Miller, Jed Dube and Walter Lawler.

Honorary pallbearer is Allan Krueger.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
