Obituary: Larry Lynn Everett

Larry Lynn Everett age 69 passed away on October 8, 2018 in Athens, Texas. He was born on June 3, 1949 in Athens to Benjamin Franklin and Sibyl Manuel Everett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Scott Everett; his sisters Novella Cheeves and Berniece Kemp and Bonnie King; his brothers Gene Everett and Bennie Royce Everett.


Larry was a long-time resident of Murchison, Texas where he served as the youngest county commissioner at age 21. He was the Mayor of Murchison, President of the school board for Murchison ISD and member of the Masonic lodge of Brownsboro. He owned and operated Everett Tractor and equipment for 30 years. In his spare time, he loved to fish, and play music. He enjoyed “jam sessions” with his friends. He would visit the local nursing homes and play the piano for the residents. Larry had a very quick sense of humor and was always making people laugh. He will be greatly missed by all that were blessed to know him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Susie Everett; his daughter, Sandie Moon and husband Shad; his grandchildren, Bayley Moon and Briley Moon; one sister, Patricia Earley; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews, Mark King, Jody King, Justin King, Lee Washington, Clint Corley, and Dylan Washington.

uneral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral chapel, with Eric Cupp officiating. Burial to follow at Shelby Chapel Cemetery in Athens.
