Obituary: Joyce Carroll

Graveside services for Joyce Carroll 80, Athens have been scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Friday October 26, 2018 at Athens Cemetery with Bro. Dan Manuel officiating under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

Mrs. Carroll passed away Monday evening in Athens.

She was born January 19, 1938 in Tennessee Colony to the late Abner and Ada Hudson. Joyce was a homemaker and an avid gardener. She had a very kind and gentle soul. She had a loving and generous heart and was always thinking of others. Her most special times were those spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They all brought great joy to their “Nano”. Joyce spent most of her time in her yard. Many neighbors and people passing by would stop to speak and take pictures of her yard. All were in awe of the beauty. She was truly a master gardener and her and her yard, plants and flowers were her “Little Piece of Heaven”.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Carroll, son; Kenneth Mitchell and 1st husband Jimmy Mitchell, brothers; Doyle and Harley Hudson.

Survivors include her son Steve Mitchell and wife Angie of Athens, grandchildren; Jennifer, Jimmy, Seth, Kelsey, Aaron and Josh, numerous great-grandchildren, sister; Mildred Wacha of Palestine, lifelong friend; Natalie Morgan, Tyler and numerous nieces and nephews
