Obituary: Jonathan Stovall

Stovall, JonathanFuneral services for Jonathan Stovall, 21, of Athens, Texas, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 2015, at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Bro. Darren Miller Officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.

Mr. Stovall went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, May 4, 2015 in Athens, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jonathan Matthew Stovall was born February 15, 1994 in Athens, Texas, the son of Stephen Mark Stovall and Sheree Hagood Stovall. He was a member of the Faith Church of Athens. He will be remembered by many at M.D. Anderson in Houston, during his chemo treatments, for his walks through the hallways praying and loving on those who were fighting the same fight. He has always worried about others before himself, which led to his career path as an E.R. Tech at E.T.M.C. and his eventual dream of caring for special needs children. Jonathan was an honorary member of East Texas Bikers and the Rumble Against Cancer group. He loved all sports; playing football, softball and paintball. His greatest love was spending time with his wife Erica, his baby girl Isabella and the rest of his family and friends. Jonathan was a charismatic young man, full of life and love and will be greatly missed by all he touched.

He will be welcomed into heaven by his uncle Donald Pruitt and his M.D. Anderson friend Jonathan Bennett.

He is survived by his loving wife Erica Stovall of Athens; his sweet baby girl Isabella Claire Stovall of Athens; his parents, Stephen and Sheree Stovall of Athens; maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Peggy Hagood of Athens; paternal grandfather “A.T”. Albert Stovall of Athens; paternal grandmother Marjorie Stovall of Ocala, Florida; brother Stevie Stovall o Athens; mother and father in law Melissa and Jason Scott of Plano; aunt Michele Pruitt of Athens; three uncles, Shane Hagood of Athens, Michael and Donald Stovall both of Ocala, Florida and cousins, Jake and Shelby Pruitt, Adam and Briley Pruitt, David and Allie Fisk, Matthew Hagood, Mallorie Hagood, Chris and Chelsea Hagood, Amber Hagood, Wyatt Stovall and Dani Ballard.

Pallbearers will be Jake Pruitt, Adam Pruitt, Matthew Hagood, Brandon Crowsey, Dale Grissom, Chris Hawpe, Stevie Stovall and Brad Fiscus.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens.

  1. I am Bradley Fiscus’ Greatma..I am praying for all his family during the weeks ahead. He was a fine young man who left a beautiful legacy. He was brave and never gave up. He has received his well earned promotion. God bless you all who love him.
