Obituary: John Calvin Oberg, Jr.

John Calvin Oberg Jr., 69, of Athens, Texas, passed away on March 29, 2018 of complications with Lewy Body Dementia.

The memorial service was held Monday, April 2, 2018 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home. Lynette Solomon of Genesis Hospice was the officiant.
John was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on April 20, 1948. He graduated from Richard King High School and continued on to receive an associate degree in drafting from Delmar Junior College. John also severed four years in the United States Army.

John was married to Bonnie on November 2, 2002 they were married 16 years.

John worked as a salesman for Zep Superior Solutions. He enjoyed bowling, playing golf, watching baseball, and playing with his grandkids. He was also actively involved in Watch Dogs mentoring program with Athens Independent School District.

John is survived by his wife Bonnie Braddy Oberg, his son John Calvin Oberg, III, and wife Amber, son Keith Oberg and wife Rebekah, his daughters by marriage Rebecca Wilder and Crystal Stephens, grandchildren, John Calvin, IV, Vivian, Hadley, Xavier, Curley, Constance and DeMarcus. Sisters, Barbara Hansen and Sharon Burck, along with other family and friends.

John is preceded in death by his father, John Calvin Oberg, Sr. and his mother, Anna Bader Oberg.
