Obituary: JC Rogers

JC Rogers, 93 went to be with his heavenly father in paradise on October 17, 2018. JC was born on December 8, 1924 in Malakoff Texas to Jack and Grace Barr Rogers. The eldest of six children. JC joined the US Navy at the age of eighteen and served as a medical corpsman during several wars including WWII. He served for 21 years. It was at the age of eighteen that JC surrendered his life to Jesus and was true to his faith even unto the end.

JC married the love of his life and his childhood sweetheart Elizabeth Clay. They had three children, one Margret Ann died as an infant the other two Linda Rogers Baldwin and Ron Rogers were both with him till the end.

After serving in the Navy, JC returned to the Willow Springs Community and the family farm where he farmed and ranched until he was physically unable to do so. He loved his family and the old home place. He was an avid hunter but had a real passion for quail hunting. He enjoyed all types of sports. He was also a patriot and loved his country. He had been seen talking to owners of American flags that were being displayed either torn or tattered about removing and replacing them using the proper protocol.

JC was preceded in death by his father Sabert Jackson (Jack) Rogers and Grace Gertrude Barr Rogers. Two wives Elizabeth Clay Rogers and Dorothy Clements Rogers, one infant daughter Margret Ann Rogers two brothers Billy Jack Rogers and Maynard Rogers and one sister Vema Jo Rogers also son in law Darrell Labhart, one grandson Casey Allen Rogers and one great great grandson Gunner Decker.

JC was survived by daughter, Linda Rogers Baldwin and son in law Jim, son, Ron Rogers and daughter in law Carol Siler Rogers, one brother, Royall Rogers and one sister, Zelda Rogers Bruns. Three grandchildren, Kurt Labhart and wife Racie, Cord Rogers and wife Ashley, Erika Scarborough and husband Tommie, along with seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, seventeen nieces and nephews and one special friend, Bubba.

Funeral services will be held at Autry’s Carroll Lehr Funeral Home in Athens on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 3:00 PM. With a visitation being at 2:00 PM one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM.
