Isabel Odessa Landis passed away to her heavenly home on Saturday, December 1, 2018 in Athens, Texas. She was born in Athens to Elton and Carra Foster Cox.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Guy Landis; her son, Steve Landis; her brothers, Robert Lee Cox, Lacy Cox and Raymond Cox.
Odessa was a homemaker of which her greatest joy was to take care of her husband of 65 years and their two boys. She loved her church home where she dedicated many years of service at Eastern Hills Church of Christ in Athens and Malakoff Church of Christ. She had a servant’s heart and with that she volunteered at the hospital in Athens and South Place Nursing Center. Odessa will be greatly missed by her family, her special caregivers, Joyce Johnson, Patrina Paul and Odessa Reynolds and by all those who were blessed to know her.
Survivors include her son Gary Landis and wife Candy; her daughter-in-law, Dot Landis; her grandchildren, Melissa Cupp, Angela Larkin, Karen Ellis, and Billy Scarborough; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Larkin, Parker Cupp, Billy Scarborough, Alan Ahlgrimm and Gary Landis.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 2:00 PM with viewing beginning at 1:30 PM at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home with Eric Cupp officiating. Burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.
