Obituary: Franklin Boyce, Sr.

Funeral services for Franklin Boyce Sr., 78, of Athens, Texas are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Church of God in Athens with Rev. Chuck Hinton officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Athens.

Mr. Boyce went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 7, 2013 in Athens.

Franklin Boyce Sr. was born April 27, 1935 in Magnolia, Ark. the son of Eddie Boyce and Reece Lee Boyce. He was a member of the Church of God in Athens and was a devoted member. He was known as a hard working man that loved his family. Popa was a loving husband, father, grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, J.A. Boyce, Billy Boyce, Charles L. Boyce; one sister, Maxine Young; three nephews, Bullet Young, Les Boyce, Thomas Boyce; and two nieces, Susie Boyce and Diane Tiege.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Violet Cooper Boyce; five sons, Billy Boyce and his wife Tracy of Athens, Benny Boyce and his wife Ramona of Athens, Franklin Boyce Jr., Charlie Boyce and his wife Sherri of Athens, Harry Boyce and his wife Tiny of Athens; 14 grandchildren, Billy Boyce Jr., Michael Boyce, Michelle Boyce, Misty Davis, Mandy Lee, Clifton Acker, Lance Boyce, Lauren Boyce, Madison Boyce, River Boyce, Cande Boyce, Brittani Hurt, Chantel Boyce, Harry Boyce Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Daisy Cooper, Ivory Choate and husband David; three nephews, Clifford Young, Bill Young, Bennie Ray Choate; four nieces, Maxine Young, Delia Young, Reece Young; Violet May Boyce, and numerous cousins.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at the Church of God in Athens.
