Obituary: Cody Glenn Sims

Cody Glenn Sims was born to Cecil and Cindy Sims in Athens, Texas on September 1, 1998 and went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 5, 2018. Cody was raised in Athens along with his sister, Shelby Leigh Sims.

Cody enjoyed hunting, fishing, floating the river and all outdoor activities. He also enjoyed sports and Texas Rangers baseball. He earned his GED and had just completed his CDL Truck Driving Course through Tyler Junior College.

His most important choice in life, after choosing the wrong path for a period of time, was choosing to ask Jesus in his heart in the summer of 2017. Cody became on fire for God and memorized scripture and was able to witness for Christ and help others that were seeking answers to fill their void, that can only be filled with Jesus. Cody had a beautiful spirit, which was the Holy Spirit living in and through him. We were able to enjoy the son and brother we always hoped to have, and we are glad to know that he is enjoying his new home in Heaven.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Jo Beth Badgley; paternal grandfather, B.F. Sims; paternal grandmother, Violet Marie Jones; great aunt, Betty Neal and special grandfather, Dr. N.D. Geddie Jr.

Survivors include his father, Cecil Glenn Sims, his mother, Cindy Badgley Sims, his sister, Shelby Leigh Sims, Paternal grandparents, Bobby Jones, and wife Dorothy, maternal grandfather, Joe Glenn Badgley and special grandmother, Jeanne Geddie. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 1:00 PM with funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens, with burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.
