Nichols files for re-election

State Sen. Robert Nichols

Press release

State Senator Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) has filed for re-election for Texas Senate District 3. The district covers 19 counties including the greater part of East Texas and Henderson County.

“Serving the people of Senate District 3 is a tremendous honor and I ask for their support so we can continue to work to make our state’s government more efficient and accountable,” said Nichols.

Since being elected in 2007, Nichols has built a strong conservative record and has authored and passed legislation to protect landowners’ rights, increase educational opportunities in East Texas, reform transportation policies, and promote free-market principles. Nichols has continued to stay faithful to the ‘Texas Taxpayer Protection Pledge’, which opposes any and all efforts to increase taxes.

“The priorities of Senate District 3 are my priorities,” said Nichols. “My work in the Legislature is driven by the interests and concerns that are brought to me by the citizens I represent. I work every day to fix them.”

Nichols has served as Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee since 2013 and is widely respected as one of the state’s experts on transportation policy and for preserving local control of Texas roads.

Nichols has been recognized as one of Texas’ most effective and hardest-working legislators. He was designated as a Champion of Free Enterprise by the Texas Association of Business, a Courageous Conservative by the Texas Conservative Coalition, and a Top 10 Best Legislator for the 85th Legislative Session by Texas Monthly Magazine.

Nichols is a businessman from Jacksonville, Texas. In his hometown, he served on city council, was elected mayor, built four successful manufacturing facilities, earned 32 U.S. patents and 128 foreign patents, as well as creating more than 900 jobs for East Texas families.

“I’ve done my best to serve the district, and I think my record speaks to the strong conservative values of the people I represent,” said Nichols. “It’s a privilege to ask for their vote.”
